Alrighty crackers, it's time for my end-of-season round-up review!
So sit back and let me regale you with all the awesome things I did. I'd say be jealous, but pretty much everyone reading this journal was involved in some way.
Supernatural: So. You know how some shows are really addictive? WOW THIS SHOW PUTS THEM ALL TO SHAME. It's kind of embarrassing how obsessed with Supernatural I became this semester. It's chilled out in the last few weeks, but I STILL SERIOUSLY LOVE THIS SHOW. Tumblr didn't really help. More on that later. I'd recommend this show to any female who likes hot men.
To be honest, it's not a stellar TV program, but it's got just the right blend of badassness, attractive people, and super angst to basically be crack. Like I'm not even kidding this show is CRACK.
B-STUD and In the Light: Remember how I had zero friends last year? Yeah, I fixed that. Started going to a few bible studies on campus, and fell in love with all of them. It's amazing how much it felt like coming home. I now have some excellent, really supportive friends as a result.
I really can't say enough good things about this.
Spenser!: Spenser get a special mention. He's awesome, we're friendsies, he lives on my couch, has great musical tastes, and we revert to 12 year old boys in each other's presence. I love the shit outta him.
Life Drawing: Most of my classes were just kind of average this semester, but the one class I am SOOO glad I took is life drawing. Basically I'm now a figure drawing boss, and it reminded me of what I love about drawing the human body. I'm also now addicted to figure studies.
Comic Con: COMIC CON. THE DEFINING MOMENT OF MY LIFE. All my best KU friends are such because of Comic Con. You can refer to my previous NYCC journal for all my ravings about it, but basically the entire semester was shaped by Comic Con. The coolest experience of my life.
Thor costume: On a related note, I made a KILLER Thor costume for NYCC, and it basically came in handy for the whole rest of the semester. It won me some costume contests, got me super props at the Ren Faire, garnered me some nicknames, made me feel like a badass, and caused me to fall head over heels in love with Thor.
Cloud Atlas: OH MY GOD THIS MOVIE. I don't care what the reviews say, this is a gorgeous movie. GO SEE IT. It's perfect, and dat's da tru-tru.
Hurricane/Gishwhes: Soooooo my house got hit by TWO hurricanes at once. The first one was the infamous Halloween hurricane, Sandy, it's cool, we were all fine, we didn't even lose power. The second was GISHWHES. Organized by Crazy Person/actor Misha Collins and his pal Miss Jean Louis, GISHWHES stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. And it lives up to the name, let me tell you. Basically this thing had Mel, Spenser, myself and our cohorts having tea under overpasses, making cucumber kilts, buying sock monkey hats, knitting obscenely large scarves and making portraits out of Skittles. A full list of all the GISHWHES items can be found here:
almaasi.tumblr.com/post/346248… Obviously we didn't get anywhere close to all of them, but we got a few, and it was basically the craziest stuff I've ever done in my life.
Crazy Star Wars crack: When I say 2 hurricanes in one day, I actually mean 3. The third being STAR WARS. You've all heard by now, they got picked up by Disney, Episode 7, 8, and 9 are happening, it's best news since the announcement of the prequels. And thus began what I've decided is a new golden age for nerds, particularly with regards to movies. Because HOLY GOD have you SEEN everything that's coming out in the next 3 years? Take my soul, movie theater. Just take it.
Lotr Marathon: Ouch, floor. Don't sleep on the floor. Also don't start LotR extended marathons at 8 pm. Other than that, this was the best.
Hobbit: Saw it at midnight in IMax 3D, suckers. Got Posters, saw 9 minutes of the new Star Trek, fangirled, flailed and cried a LOT. IT WAS BEAUTY.
Florida: Drove to Florida. Was exciting. Don't ever want to do it again.
Got off Tumblr!!: This is actualy huge for me. Basically I had a problem, it was cutting in to my ability to function, so I got rid of it. Tchuss, Tumblr!
Myazakithon: Myazaki is perfect. Why were these movies not part of my childhood???
103 partyyyyyy: So basically by the end of the semester, the apartment was running an inn. It was great. It was no longer nice and clean, but it was GREAT. I've grown to love our apartment and I am going to cry like a crazy person when we have to move out. It's home.
Metal Cookies: Shut up, our cookies are the most hardcore, everyone else go home.
So yes. Now I have to live up to my standards over Christmas break...
Bring es.
God bless!
